DAY 10: PARLIAMENT AND FOTA

Today we had a guest speaker come and talk to us about marketing and directing. His name was Steve Ryan and he worked at FOTA Widlife Park in Ireland. From what he described, it seemed as though his job as pretty interesting. He was in charge of making sure all the marketing that was done through social networking was monitored properly. He told us about how social networking is becoming such an essential tool to marketing that if you do not connect with your audience through social networking, your business won't survive. He told us an interesting story about they have a certain type of relay race every year, and they filmed it this year, and the ostriches began running along side of the runners. It was such a popular internet sensation that it ended being on "Good Morning America". That type of advertisement costs almost $50,000 for 30 seconds. He also told us about being a good sense of community for your consumers. This day we also went to Parliament, where I learned how the government in Europe is controlled. It was pretty interesting to see what type of things are required in order to be a part of the European Union. After we left Parliament, we went to the Market Square to try and find some of the famous Belgian Waffles that everyone had been talking about. We ended up finding them, and making our way back to the hostel. Turned out to be an interesting day.
