July 14 Day 4- Paris
Today we went to the catacombs. It was nice, but a lot of steep stairs. After leaving the catacombs we grabbed lunch and say the gendarmerie ride by on tanks coming from the Bastille parade. Next we went to the louvre and spent hours there. The louvre was huge and had a lot to offer. Our wait in line went by pretty quick for us to be getting in free of charge. Once inside, we walked around and took pictures. Of course we had to see the Mona Lisa. When we found the room it was in, there was a huge crowd of people waiting to get up close and personal. We joined the crowd and elbowed and waited and waited and elbowed until we were finally up front. It still doesn't feel real for me that we're in Paris. Our next stop was the national opera but, they were closed. We still hung around in that area for a while. We sat outside on the steps of the opera national and listened to the street performers. Finally to wrap our day up we went to watch the fireworks at the Eiffel Tower. We weren't actually at the tower but we were close enough to see the fireworks without the crowd. It was the longest and most complex firework show that I've ever seen.
