Day 5: Conquering the Eiffel Tower
I experienced so many new
things yesterday it's hard to know where to start. My day got off to a late
start because I was found guilty of sleeping in, how could someone sleep in
while in Paris right? Well trust me it was absolutely necessary to get a few
extra hours of rest before the day I had. I started the day by
wondering the streets near the hostel looking for food and boutiques. Both were
found to be successes, I even found a record store! My absolute favorite
surprise so far, I definitely did not expect to find 70's rock vinyls here in
Paris, so of course I made a few purchases. After we had finished our shopping
it was time to meet up with Dr. V and go to a fashion show.
The show was on the top
floor of the mall, which is also the most lavish mall I have ever been to, and
I have been to a lot of places in my lifetime. After the fashion show we
ventured to the top for a bird's eye view of the city.
At 6PM the TnCIS group all
meet up by the river for our boat cruise experience. Which was great, I can
remember being at Notre-Damme earlier in the week and seeing the ferries in the
river and thinking, "How cool is that, I wonder if that is what we will be
doing", and sure enough there we were.
Once the cruise was over
the group headed across the bridge to the Eiffel Tower. TnCIS covered the first
half of the ticket, and we all went to the middle level of the tower, which for
most was high enough. Me being the adrenaline junkie that I am, it was no
enough at all. I purchased the second ticket and rode my way all the way to the
top. I can't believe I can finally say I have been to the top of the Eiffel
Tower, what an experience.
Once we finally left the
tower it seemed as though the marketing class were the only students left in
the area. So go Dr. V’s class! By this time we are all absolutely starving so
we decide to jump on the metro and get off just a stop before our hostel’s stop
and walk around in search of somewhere to stop and eat. We probably ended up
sitting there just talking, laughing, and sharing experiences for close to two
hours before we realize just how tired we all were.
Finally stumbling in the
door just after midnight it felt as if I needed to crawl on all fours just to
make it up the stairs, and into my bed, for tomorrow is another big day!
