Day 4
GEC 1was actually really educational. In class we held a discussion on the
different aspects and details on marketing. We learned the difference between
management and marketing, internal v. external operation, and the difference
between need and want. Also the difference between microenvironment and
macroenvironment, where micro you are able to control your own business and
macro gives leaves you without any
control. Along with that the process of business to business (B2B) and
its between two large business, like TNCIS buying rooms from colleges or
hostiles for study abroad groups. And
how business to consumer (B2C) are the transactions seen in stores, like promotion
and advertisement.
After a
short class session the group was off to on its first excursion to Microsoft to
listen to speakers. We found out the mission of Microsoft, "Empower every person
and every organization on the planet to
achieve more", and how they want to be seen as more a tech company. They
showed us some of the new technology being created and introduced to society
such as the HoloLens and the new Microsoft flow program. HoloLens creates 3D
diagrams to improve the learning process and Microsoft Flow simplifies managing
several accounts. And lastly, the most
exciting thing learned was from the guy who intergraded the kinect aspect of
SCRATCH, a kids coding program, which I
thought was cool because you can play and create games on it. Overall it was an
educational filled day that I enjoyed.
P.S. The rain in Dublin in extremely cold and all together inconvenient, do to the amount of people on the street running and speed walking with umbrellas on the slick pavement. All together a different experience.
